EMBRACE WELLNESS & NURTURE HEALTHY HABITS

Supporting you to be kind to yourself & recognise the importance of a whole body approach to wellbeing.

As you navigate through this chapter in your life, embracing healthy habits can be a foundation of your overall wellness. Here are a few tips to help you integrate these habits into your daily routine:

Nourish Your Body

Choose a variety of whole, nutrient-rich foods to fuel your body and promote healing. Whole foods are foods that are close to their natural state and have not been processed or refined. These foods are often found in nature and are minimally processed, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. They provide many essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and fibre that are important for our health. So, think of whole foods as the foods that come straight from the earth and are good for your body!

TOP TIP : START WITH JUST CHANGING ONE MEAL A DAY TO A HEALTHIER CHOICE.

Stay Active

Find activities you enjoy to keep your body moving. Whether it’s walking, yoga, or
dancing, regular exercise can boost your mood and energy levels. To build a healthy habit
it’s important to choose something you love. There are some fantastic apps like the Nike
Training app which are completely free and give you loads of options of quality workout
videos to join in with at a level to suit all abilities. Just do it!

TOP TIP : FIND AN EXERCISE BUDDY TO KEEP YOU MOTIVATED.

Prioritise Rest

Listen to your body and ensure you get enough rest. Quality sleep is vital for your physical
and mental well-being. It’s a good start to create a bedtime routine that helps you wind
down for the evening. However hard it may be, try not to look at screens for an hour or
two before you sleep. The blue light can affect your melatonin levels and make it hard to
sleep, because your body thinks it’s still daytime.

TOP TIP : REPLACE SCROLLING WITH A RELAXING BATH AND LISTENING TO MUSIC.

Manage Stress

Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or mindfulness to help reduce stress levels and promote inner peace. Anything that focuses your attention away from anxious thoughts is perfect. Find a stress-busting activity that you love. This can be listening to music, going for a walk, dancing, drawing or creating something, playing an instrument or journaling. Check out our meditations here >

TOP TIP : JUST TAKING 5 DEEP BREATHS CAN MAKE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.

Connect With Others

Surround yourself with a supportive community of friends, family, or fellow young
individuals who understand and uplift you. Cancer can feel isolating and make you feel
that you are the only person of your age going through it. Sharing your journey with
others can completely change your experience to a more positive one. Reach out to us if
you need help connecting to other young cancer patients.

TOP TIP : DON’T WORRY ABOUT BURDENING OTHERS, PEOPLE WANT TO SUPPORT YOU.

Remember, building healthy habits is a journey, not a sprint. Start small, be kind to yourself, and celebrate your progress along the way. Your wellbeing matters, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
